Good to Know
At Dry Ice Bear, safety is our number one priority for our team and our customers.
-
Dry ice is -109.3 degrees Fahrenheit and should only be handled while wearing leather or insulated. It is highly recommended to NOT handle or move dry ice by any means necessary with your BARE SKIN. Prolonged contact with the skin will cause injury to the skin cells that looks and feel like that of a burn.
-
As the dry ice sublimates, or returns to its gas state, the carbon dioxide is 1.5 times heavier than air and displaces oxygen. Co2 seeks the lowest gravitational point. This is extremely dangerous and could, under certain circumstances cause DEATH BY ASPHYXIATION
-
When transporting, NEVER transport dry ice in closed spaces such as inside a car or trunk without proper ventilation
-
Co2 is odorless, tasteless and invisible to the human eye. DO NOT store dry ice in a freezer or refrigerator unless the power is out.
-
DO NOT PUT DRY ICE IN A SEALED CONTAINER. The dry ice will go back to its original gas state and expand thereby causing the abrupt rupture/explosion of the container. Explosions can cause very severe, sometimes fatal injuries
-
If you breathe too much Carbon Dioxide, you may start to pant and breathe quickly as if running a race; develop a headache; or fingernails or lips may start to turn blu. IMMEDIATELY leave the area- open a door- open a window. INCREASE THE VENTILATION OF AIR
Now..here are some interesting facts about dry ice!
-
Dry ice is best preserved paper wrapped, newspapers, paper bags, etc. At Dry Ice Bear we deliver the ice in paper bags inside coolers specifically used for dry ice. The coolers are specifically designed with vents out Co2 gas and prevent it from building up
-
Worried about the dry ice "disappearing?" No need to worry! Dry ice actually stays fully intact from 8-10 days BEFORE the wet ice even begins to melt. At that point the dry ice will last ANOTHER 4-5 DAYS.
-
Benefits include from preserving frozen food to helping one shape their own body! It's exceptional low temperatures help food and or beverages last longer and ensure already frozen products to stay frozen longer as well.
-
Dry Ice is also used as a whole cleaning solution. It is the "green" solution; with pellets of recycled carbon dioxide touching each surface leading to sanitation and cleanliness.
